Machine learning or artificial intelligence are buzzwords which are becoming more and more prevalent in the press and are increasingly invading our everyday lives. How (and what) can computers learn?
The lecture asks this question and illustrates that behind machine learning there is a lot of interesting mathematics from fields as diverse as the theory of probability, the theory of infinite-dimensional spaces and the optimization theory.
